Power generating project in Pakistan through wind turbines

Wind energy has been in use for many centuries-in sailing, irrigation and grinding grains. Wind energy system for irrigation and milling have been in use since ancient times, while in the twentieth century they were used for generating electric energy.

All over the world there are many method of power generating projects from diesel, biogas, water, wind, solar, etc.

But the cheapest form of energy producing is a wind turbine. M.E.S.E.C is introducing this technology in Pakistan for the first time on local basis.

Economy of Pakistan will flourish, as Pakistan is underdeveloped country. To fulfil our expenses we need loan and aid.

Most of national income is used in power generating, and the problems concerning power supply, but know it’s the need of time to realize the setbacks of Pakistan development and to face the problem, so we need the best utilization of talent in Pakistan.

Mesec is one of the up coming engineering co. of Pak who has stepped a head to do so.

Foreign investors are welcome to the part of such productive and initiative project.

Mission Statement

To enhance the lifestyle of those in the global community who still do not have access to conventional power through the development and distribution of low cost, reliable, renewable energy technologies for lighting, communication and education. For those with conventional power, to reduce the world’s dependence on often unstable and polluting fossil fuels, while at the same time, building a profitable enterprise that offers financial security to its shareholders and those employed.

This is an environmentally friendly project and the project can get 15 to 20 Paisa per unit in the near future under verified emission route (VER). This would be an additional income directly increasing the profitability. However as this would be a future benefit

keeping in the view its low cost, with compare to other methods of power generating every country is adopting this power generating system.

M.E.S.E.C has took a step toward planting the wind turbine power generating method because it is beneficial as:

It is low cost method of power generation

With compare to other power generating method it don’t pollute the air and water with injurious gases like carbon dioxide and monoxide.

Shortage of power supply

Pakistan is facing shortage of power which creates problem like:

  • Frequent breakdown
  • Regular load shedding
  • Unwarranted fluctuation
  • Escalating cost electricity

To beat these problem and the great need of time is to adopt the alternative way of power generating.

From domestic uses to agricultural and industrial use electricity is one of the big factor for the survival

M.E.S.E.C is introducing its services in this field. Mesec wind turbine power generators are more economical and more dependable to generate your own energy.almost free energy.

Wind energy projects in Pakistan
Various specifications, from 1kw/h to 2MW/h electric power and more.

It is encouraging to know that our government functionaries and planners have realized the importance of alternative and renewable source energy.

Wind is clean, safe and sustainable source to generate electricity and almost free from major recurring bills. Wind potential is being harnessed in the U.S Europe and recently in India to built wind farm.

MESEC is the only company in Pakistan has award to Erect first and largest wind turbine Nordex N 27, 150 KW in Karachi Korangi Industrial Area.”. It will start production in Sept 2005.

Pakistan too, has an abundance of wind, blowing in sufficiently high speed in the coastal areas including Chor, Badin, Karachi and Hyderabad.Wind can be utilized for the future demands of electrical energy at low costs without the use fossil fuel. Good wind sites are located in remote locations, far from cities where electricity is located is needed in bulk.

Wind power in far areas.

More than 60% of the Pakistani population resides in the rural areas. Where small wind machines should be promoted for private ownership and operated by each individual farmer or owner.

Individual turbines, producing less than 50 kilowatts each, are used to generate energy for homes, telecommunications dishes, or for pumping water. Small turbines are sometimes used in connection with diesel generator batteries, and photovoltaic systems. These systems are called hybrid wind system and are typically used in remote, off-grid locations, where a connection to utility grid is not available.

Rural areas where there is still the darkness, we can bring them to light .The areas far from the cities especially villages is much expensive to supply electricity power because and the turn- over is very less.

To uplift them Wind power plant is best to generate energy and for such areas it save money, time and less risky.

Investment in wind power

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said the government encourages foreign investment in alternative energy sector to meet the power requirements.

He said that government’s economic policies had made Pakistan an attractive place for investment an investment of $1billion in wind energy was expected in the country.

The advisor to the chief minister on environment and alternate energy recently disclosed that a windmill power project would be launched in Gharo Sind at an initial cost of $875 million, in the collaboration with some foreign countries, to meet the needs of electricity in Karachi.

Foreign investors

Foreign investors are interested to invest in the wind power project in the country. Well coming them and ready to give them services and assistance, as they are not familiar with the environment and market. The advisor to the chief minister said that for windmill power project, professional and technical expertise could be obtained from both inside and outside the country.

Wind into wind energy
  • No.1
  • The term wind power or wind energy describes the process by which wind is used to generate mechanical power or electricity. Wind turbines are moved by the wind, which convert its kinetic energy into mechanical power. This mechanical power can be used for specific tasks, such as pumping water, or a generator can convert this mechanical power into electricity. Utility-scale turbines range in size from 50 kilowatts to several megawatts. Large turbines are grouped together in wind farms, which provide electricity in bulk to a grid.
  • No.2
  • It is important to note that the amount of wind power generated is proportional to the density of the air, area swept by the turbine rotor blades and the cube of the wind speed. The faster the blades rotate, the more the energy produced.
  • No.3
  • Kinetic energy of air is proportional to its mass, the energy in it depends on the density of the air. The density of the air decreases slightly with increasing humidity. And the air is denser in winter than in the summer. Therefore wind generator will produce more power in winter than in summer at the same wind speed.
  • No.4
  • At high altitudes, air pressure is lower and the air is less dense. Therefore at the same wind velocity, a windmill at a coastline will produce more than the one at hill station.
  • No.5
  • The output power of the wind turbine generation is depended on the wind velocity. The wind velocity is reflected on the power generation; for example if wind varied smoothly, the output also changed smoothly. On the other hand the output power fluctuated if there was wind turbulence. The energy content of wind varies with the cube of the average wind speed. Thus, if the wind speed doubles, the kinetic power gained by the rotor increases eight times.

Environment
Power generating from wind is more health though expensive than that from the fully entrenched and mature fossil fuel-based generation system. This is because no value is ascribed to the inherent cleanliness of wind and no penalty is imposed on the use of resource, which pollute the environment. The coast of damage that burning of coal causes to the respiratory health of human as well as animals and the bad affect it has on the environment in the coal based electricity. Energy generate from wind impose none of these burden on society and thus not contributing in issues like global warming.
